[googlefont="VT323"] Computers are magnificent tools for the realization of our dreams, but no machine can replace the human spark of spirit, compassion, love, and understanding. Katsu just wanted to be alone. Now that the 9th floor was closed off, the office that he normally used to be alone was gone. Few went to the MRC, but Katsu had found in the last couple days since this bracelet was put on him, one couldn't stay in the MRC for too long, even with a good plentiful supply of water as it was just that hot and sucked so much water because it was so hot out. Katsu instead looked for a different place to just be alone. After all, after what happened that first day with these bracelets on, he couldn't hang out with Tomoe anymore. He regretted what he did, but he would just push on, it was the best for them both to split up like that.
Katsu found his way to the newest floor, entering a random door which happened to be the room where the bombs were being made. After all, so few people would come here. He found a nice little corner to sit in and bunched of his legs and just sat there, thinking. He thought about Tomoe, and how much he cared for her and how much he had hurt himself to do what he did to her. He thought about his family for the first time in a long time. His parents, and if this was being shown to people on the outside. What would they think of him? Honestly his parents would probably tell him 'finally you and he like our son, good job,' and pat him on his back. That thought made him wonder if he had made a terrible choice, as he hated his parents and everything they did.
Hold on, was that a tear? He felt something wet on his pants. He looked up and wiped his face, clearing it of the liquid that had accumulated on his face. Damn it. He needed to be strong than that. He had to keep going and going and going he couldn't break, he couldn't buckle under the pressure. And yet he found himself unable to stop the depressing thoughts that were going through his head. The image of a smile from Tomoe was fading, replaced with a crying Tomoe, and that hurt his heart.

Izuku was walking by the "Fail Safe" Creation Center...and was actually starting to sing... Belting out a rather good baritone, Izuku was...actually pretty decent. Not Ultimate level, but still pretty good.
"Like fire, Hellfire, this fire in my skin. This burning...desire..."[/i] He paused right by where he found Katsu. His eyebrow rose as he walked toward the man.
"Is turning me to... sin," Izuku was done singing a Disney song... He looked at Katsu and found him alone. If he had to be honest, Katsu was one of the people he didn't like. But he did help out during the trial. Plus, it seemed like he needed the company. But might as well...add some more bounce to the situation.
"It's not my fault, it's-" Izuku stopped, "Ah screw it. What's up?"
The last couple of days, Izuku didn't really go around and advertise what was written on his bracelet. The less people knew, the better... Of course, he was pondering on getting rid of it. Did he really need his arm?

[googlefont="VT323"] Computers are magnificent tools for the realization of our dreams, but no machine can replace the human spark of spirit, compassion, love, and understanding. Katsu didn't pay attention to the music when he heard the voice singing from outside, though he did hear it. He rather sulk all by himself in this room so he could have a marvelous pity party for himself. It was great. The music was pretty good, though Katsu wondered where the song was from for a split second before sulking once more. The pity was flowing like alcohol at some night club. It was like he was doing jello shots of pity as he sat there worrying incessantly over what was happening right now. However, when Izuku's voice got closer, Katsu snapped into action and looked up at Izuku, trying to hide any other sneaky tears that fell down his face.
"Oh. It's you. It's nothing. It's mostly because of you accusing me of being behind it all and talking so much in trial makes me a threat in this game, and thus that goes back on the people I care about as many people are mean beings who try to hurt people as much as possible." Yeah that was it. He looked back down at the floor, and attempted to push himself up, but it pretty much looked like he placed both of his hands on the ground beneath him and didn't move any at all. Damn it. He knew this day was coming, but he thought he could hold it back long enough.
"What about you? Have I made you smile yet?" Katsu looked up at him with a look of a sad puppy dog tilting its head and asking 'why'.

”At first, your misery amused me. Like I noted during the trial, I didn't like anybody here. Still don't,” Izuku noticed the tears dropping down Katsu’s eyes, but ignored them. He decided to crouch down and look directly at Katsu’s eyes. He took in Katsu… All of him. If he wanted to get out of here, best if he started to get to know people. ”Here's the thing, Mr. Kuno, I don't like you. Really don't. However, our Ultimate Guardian is now dead. So now, I'm here… Guess I have to pick up his slack. Here's the other needed source of info that your brain probably doesn't know,” Izuku took in a deep breath and sighed, ”I was honestly just throwing shade at you about you being the one who trapped us here. I don't like you and your idealistic ways. But if we both want to get out of here, you have to accept that I hate everyone here and I need to accept that you're an idealistic idiot.”He looked at his bracelet. ”These new rules… Disobey them, we die. So we have to figure out if we can get them off. However, I doubt they would make it easy for us. So… I'm playing with an idea. We get rid of them in the quickest way possible. Your friend Tomoe, the ditz, remember when Oppenheimer got his arm cut off? She said in order to treat the wound…” He decided to let Katsu complete his sentence. Katsu Kuno ,

[googlefont="VT323"] Computers are magnificent tools for the realization of our dreams, but no machine can replace the human spark of spirit, compassion, love, and understanding. Katsu wasn't sure if Izuku actually thought him to be the mastermind behind the whole thing, but no matter what Izuku really thought he had made him a bigger target. He believed that Izuku was a smart fellow and honestly he was worried he gave off the vibes of being the one behind it all. He wanted to live. He wanted to live so he could protect those in this game to the best of his ability, defeat those who killed and keep on going. They had to hope that this game would end. They had to hope to live. If everyone did that, no one would die. Katsu truly believed that. He knew everyone wouldn't believe, they wouldn't hope, but he hoped to inspire others to keep pushing on, but how could he when he was here moping over fucking up some stuff with someone he cared deeply about, or when he was worrying about when he would going to die because of the NG code. How could a guy like him ever hope to inspire hope in others?
"No." Katsu looked at his wrist with the bracelet and lightly gripped it with his other hand, though he did attempt to grip it tight but his hand wouldn't listen. Using the wall as a support, Katsu slowly tried to stand up, leaning against the wall as his legs try to disobey him. He couldn't even imagine how weak he must look to Izuku at this time. "It's not worth it. I would like to think that no one has to die, but I know this situation has to end somehow. And it won't be pretty…. I think I'm going to be the next victim. I hope to be the next one to die." Katsu finally managed to push him from the support of the wall and put a hand on Izuku's shoulder.
"Don't worry. These things will be off. You won't have to… resort to drastic measures. Just survive a few more days and I'll die for you."

Izuku watched Katsu slowly get up and inwardly, he started to flinch. What exactly was going on? Izuku thought of Katsu as extremely annoying, frustrating, but now his body seemed to disobey him. But this was something new... Something...concerning.
He heard what Katsu was saying...but became more frustrated...
"I think I'm going to be the next victim."
"I hope to be the next one to die."
Izuku shrugged Katsu's hand off.
"Oh don't you even start! You really think that your life doesn't have value? Fine, die for all I care. I'll be mad because there goes another body, another soul in this frustrating game. Wanna know the out I gave you? Cut off your hand."
Izuku stood at him, his eyes glaring directly at Katsu's own pupils. Izuku brought his bracelet up, caring not to reveal his code.
"My code forces me into something that I really don't want to do, but I have to do it. I'm compelled to do it. More over, I tend to be loney creature, that's just how I am. However, I've noticed something about you and the ditz in the trial and the last couple of days... You guys are friends, aren't you? Don't you want to live with her? See each other, hang out? Or do you want to pass on from this world with regrets after regret?"
Izuku closed his eyes as he turned his back to Katsu...
"Here's a news flash... It appears that we would have to work together to get out," Izuku grinned as he looked at Katsu, "I have no plans to let another body drop."

[googlefont="VT323"] Computers are magnificent tools for the realization of our dreams, but no machine can replace the human spark of spirit, compassion, love, and understanding. Now who was the idealist here? Wasn't Katsu supposed to be the one who gave these sorts of inspirational speeches and have no one listen to him? Then again, Katsu knew how it felt to be shut out and not listened to when he was talking. He hated it. So he listened. He took in Izuku's words and wondered why he was saying these things. He seemed like such a negative guy, and yet his words sounded an awful lot like something he would say to Izuku.
Katsu looked down at his hand and clenched his fist before shaking his head in defiance, Izuku's words inspiring a bit of mental strength inside of Katsu. He knew what he had to do, and it was staying strong. He had to be mentally strong and his body would follow. Mind over matter. Even if it was his mind that was weakening, but it was his physical mind, so it worked.
"Of course… I want to. I want to live with all of you, but… her especially. That doesn't change a thing… sadly. What I want and what I have to do… they don't fit together very well." Katsu smiled weakly and attempted to step to Izuku's side and fell to his knees. He put up a hand in indication to not worry about it and to leave him be. He needn't his help. Katsu pushed himself up to his feet with a lot of effort, regardless if Izuku decided to help him up anyways or not. "I'm not long for this world either way. Hah… But if this is my last few weeks, my last year, I'll make the best of it. I'll be a hero for you… and everyone here. Promise to name your kid, if you ever have one, after me?"
Katsu chuckled and tried to walk again, managing a single weak step before falling down again, his foot refusing to set down straight on the floor below him. Katsu cursed under his breath and forced himself up again, his body fighting back but his mind fighting back with all its might. "I'll work with you to get out of here. Don't go getting all heroic on me… heh… don't steal my job…" Honestly, that's all that Katsu ever wanted. To have people look up to him, think of him as a hero. He didn't have any powers like the people in shows and comics and movies, but he wanted to show everyone that anyone could be a superhero… they just had to push against nature hard enough and they could win against all odds if their intentions were pure and good.

Izuku scowled as he looked over Katsu collapse, fall to his knees, etc.. He took it in and placed a hand over his face. If he wanted to be a hero so much… Tch, a useless, foolish...frustrating notion. Izuku looked over Katsu’s arms, legs...everything. It was clear, something was...wrong with him. The SHSL Helper looked over him.
It was then a scheme started to come into his mind. It was clear from the beginning that Katsu was clearly the hero, the protagonist, the one who wanted to help everyone here survive. Even at Katsu’s own expense… Truly a practice that would be nice...but reckless to the man.
Izuku inwardly grinned...before letting out a breath… It was time to… Well, do something. Act like something.
Play the act of kindness.
”Mr. Katsu Kuno… I would like for you to get outta here. In fact, all of us. I apologize for nearly every action that I had done. I apologize for it all. In fact, if I ever had a child, of course I’ll name it after you.”
The Helper closed his eyes before...tapping his feet.
”It might sound odd, it might sound strange...but… Do you want to be friends?" The man grinned.
"In fact, it comes with...a few...benefits..." Izuku said...before pausing and giving himself a mental facepalm. Could have worded that better. Screw it, let's do it.
Katsu, you got something right here... So, why don't you just ruminate, While I illuminate the possibilities!
The white-haired Filipino SHSL Helper grinned...as he opened up his mouth...
Well, Mei Meiyo had them forty swords,
Da Ji had a thousand tales.
But Katsu you're in luck, 'cause up your sleeves
You've got a brand of helper who never fails
Izuku started to dance and tap his feet to the...music in his head...before he looked at Katsu...and let himself sing.
You've got some power in your corner now! Some heavy ammunition in your camp! You got some punch, pizzaz, yahoo and how.
See, all you gotta do is tell your code, and I'll say:
As Izuku pointed to his bracelet, he grinned at Katsu before going back into a...dance apparently. Yes, Izuku Garcia was now dancing. Apparently, he wasn't so stoic.
"Mr. Kuno, sir, what will your pleasure be? Let me take your order, jot it down?" You ain't never had friend like me
The Helper grinned before tapping Katsu on the shoulder over and over again.
Life is your restaurant and I'm your maitre'd
Izuku started to whisper into Katsu's ear, the rhythm within his head constantly playing.
Come on whisper what it is you want; You ain't never had friend like me!
Izuku then went into a rather pompous, haughty position. The man was actually legit grinning...
Yes sir, I pride myself on service. You're the boss, the king, the czar. Say what you wish; it's yours, true dish. How 'bout a little more baklava?
“I literally have no idea what baklava is,” Izuku said right to Katsu's ear...before returning to sing.
Have some of column A try All of column B,
Izuku's left only went up a little bit...before stopping when he said “some of column A.” He then looked directly at Katsu before raising his right arm all the way high up for “all of column B”
I'm in the mood to help you, dude. You ain't never had friend like me
Izuku tapped his shoulder and started to grasp the Hacker's shoulder in a rather...friendly way. He started to wag his fingers as he sung the following:
Oh my. No no. My my my.
Izuku closed his eyes as he still sang.
Can your friends do this?
With those words Izuku started to tap dance...
Can your friends do that?
The man bowed so low...and actually started to breakdance.
Can your friends pull this Out their little hat?
Izuku paused before looking at Katsu, "To be honest, I can't do magic well."
Can your friends go poof?
Izuku seemed to disappear...but in all actuallity, he was right behind Katsu... He...was actually starting to smile. The man said the next words...
Well looky here.
Rather cockily.
Can your friends go abracadabra, let her rip, And then make the sucker disappear?
So don't just sit there slack-jawed, buggy-eyed, I'm here to answer all your mid-day prayers,
Izuku suddenly went on the ground...and started to pray... He was even closing his eyes, as if looking to the skies above...before going back into a rather excited, eccentric style.
You've got me bona fide certified; You've got a helper for charge d'affaires.
Izuku started to tap Katsu's chest as he still sang. With every rhythm, with ever inflection, the tapping got stronger and stronger.
I've got a powerful urge to help you out, So what you wish, I really wanna know? You've got a list that's three miles long, no doubt, Well all you've gotta do is say your code like so, and oh -
Izuku chuckled .
Mr. Kuno, sir, have a wish or two or three. I'm on the job you big nabob!
You ain't never had a friend, never had a friend, You ain't never had a friend, never had a friend, You ain't never had a friend like me.
Izuku bowed before looking at Katsu...and he grinned.
You ain't never had a friend like me
Izuku took in a deep breath, "So... Have any requests? I'll do it as long as you abide by what I sung. I'll be your friend regardless though."
Izuku knew he couldn't use him...but perhaps maybe...

[googlefont="VT323"] Computers are magnificent tools for the realization of our dreams, but no machine can replace the human spark of spirit, compassion, love, and understanding. Friends… with benefits. That sounded a lot like fun. They could be like… symbiotic animals. Like those things that lived on hippos and helps the hippos while the hippos brought them their food basically. If he was remembering it right of course. Then again, what could Izuku gain from being a friend with him? Would it be a parasitic one, where he was a mushroom and he was a poor animal he was taking advantage and sucking the energy from? He wanted to help his friends out too.
Then Izuku started singing. Honestly Izuku was a fairly good singer. Better than Katsu could do. While Katsu in reality wasn't a bad singer, he thought that he sang like a dying cat no matter what others said. It wasn't like he was as good as actual singers or anything but he wouldn't do bad in choir. Either way, that song sounded pretty fun. However, Izuku was a bit flawed in his song, and usually one would have to fix those before making it an official song. But he probably just made it up on the spot, as Katsu had never heard that song before. So he didn't mind. Katsu figured it was best to point out the flaws.
Raising his arm slightly and looking into his sleeve, Katsu shook his head and tsk'd. "You are not in my sleeves. Perhaps you should redo that line." Then Katsu sighed and looked at his bracelet. "I… can't tell you my code. Tomoe doesn't even know… we got into a fight and… You know what… if you promise to protect Tomoe no matter what, because I… can't anymore… I'll tell y--" Katsu's legs gave out and he crumpled to the ground closing his eyes with frustration. He tried to stand but he couldn't no matter how much he tried. "I'll tell you it, if you promise to protect her. She's my strength… and as you can see… our fight has weakened me…" Well it certainly didn't help his drive to fight this thing that was killing him.
"My code… I can't… I can't…" Was he really willing? He hadn't even told Tomoe what his code was even though she let him know what hers was. "I can't… take medication." Katsu tried to reach into his pocket, barely managing to pick up his pill bottle and set it on the floor as he looked up at Izuku. "I.. I can't… I'm dying. I… never told Tomoe about it either… I didn't… want to worry her."

Izuku immediately put on a scowl, "It's a figure of speech. It's a song from the Disney movie Aladdin. I'm a bit of a Disney-geek admittedly and I was trying to recall the lyrics. Naturally however, I had to change some Mr. Kuno. Well, regardless... The two of your are friends correct? In some regards, you have to protect your own self mentally." It was then Katsu said a damning statement.
"I'll tell you it, if you promise to protect her. She's my strength… and as you can see… our fight has weakened me…"
Izuku was silent. He didn't think that Katsu would do something like. It was then he looked at his own braclet silently... He could lie to him. But at the end of the day, he would still need to force himself to protect Tomoe. Even if it wasn't due to his braclet, but it was just Izuku's own despicable nature and talent. The SHSL Helper frowned before a smile returned to his face. He would have to play the act of the friend until this bracelets came off.
"I'll do it. I'll...protect...Tomoe. However, I don't want you to die just yet. There's a lot more events and things that are to be had Mr. Kuno." Izuku stood up and kept his glare at Katsu.
"Even then, it's your own duty to tell Ms. Tomoe about what's going on with your body. Don't you love her?" Izuku sat back down as he continued to speak.
"I understand love, even though it's likey to never happen to me. I'm one of those creatures who don't see romance as a 'fun' thing," Izuku shrugged, "Don't feel bad for me. It's just how I was born. Like why some boys like other boys, some girls like other girls and some people like both genders."

[googlefont="VT323"] Computers are magnificent tools for the realization of our dreams, but no machine can replace the human spark of spirit, compassion, love, and understanding. Hm. That was probably why it was such a coherent song that seemed to be right off the top of his head. It was from a Disney movie… Perhaps he should look some of those up later. He could probably watch about eight at a time and hack into that Hope's Peak server he had been trying to crack for a while, as he didn't trust the school either. Anyone or anything rich probably have done evil in the past, and he wanted to look into it, and that was why he ended up going to the school, so he would have easier access to the servers to investigate into the deep memory, the 'erased' memory, all of the stuff they were trying to keep hidden.
"If you think that, you don't… understand. I'm going to die. She'll just worry if I tell her and our time together will be full of stress instead of happiness," Katsu replied leaning against a wall and closing his eyes, leaving the pill bottle on the floor in front of Izuku and now by his own feet. He could understand how someone wouldn't be attracted to others or not want a romantic relationship. He had read a lot about it while he was hacking into the American CIA and leaked some of their extremely inhumane experiments they had done years and years ago. There were a lot of different kind of romantic or sexual orientations, and while he didn't understand some, he could understand this one. While it wasn't logical from an evolution standpoint, that didn't mean it was wrong. So if romance wasn't fun to him, was sexual stimulation appealing to him? It wasn't like Katsu really wanted to know, as it was a highly personal thing for anyone, but it was a logical question. After all the things he read were talking about aromantic and asexual being separate, like someone could not want to have sex, but want a romantic relationship and vice versa.
"The medication allows me to live longer and slow the progression, and eventually maybe I can stop and look a bit better and move around more than Stephen Hawking, but I will always be a burden and I don't want to hurt her more than I already have."

Izuku closed his eyes as he reached his hands out, "I'll just say this. With the time you have left, use it wisely. Protect the people you care about and die peacefully in your bed. No matter what, we all die eventually. It's up to the person dying to choose what they want to do with their death." Izuku frowned as he leaned against the wall.
"When you do die Mr. Kuno, I will protect Tomoe. I told you this before. However, I will tell you this most of all. You have to make sure that the people you care about know what will happen to you."
Izuku knew that he will try to corrupt or cause problems for Katsu and Tomoe, but... Having the mask of friendship? Izuku wouldn't lie, he was very curious. These were people who liked each other, people who wanted to help the other no matter what. The SHSL Helper knew what that was like, but he didn’t want to show off how much the world was broken to him...because the world was broken. It was best to ignore it or...do something worse to it.
He pocketed the medicine and frowned, “But know this. Don’t do something that you will regret. Don’t do something so foolish that you will cause a problem for those around you. You can get rid of the bracelet.” Izuku revealed his hands.
”Should be simple.”

[googlefont="VT323"] Computers are magnificent tools for the realization of our dreams, but no machine can replace the human spark of spirit, compassion, love, and understanding. Katsu thought about his words for a few moments. He knew he was right but Katsu was scared as to the pain he would bring the person he cared about the most in this world. But he could also perhaps start healing his body again. After all, if he could, he could continue to hide this from Tomoe and she wouldn't worry about him dying on her, but even still, he was unhappy because he didn't want to keep secrets from her. He wanted her to know everything but he also didn't want to worry her about him, well, slowly dying and losing the ability to use his body. She might be a doctor, but she wasn't a human doctor so he didn't think she knew from just looking at him. And he wasn't doing too bad until now, and they'd been avoiding each other because of what he said. And now he felt the loneliest he ever had before. He always had Tomoe, and even though Izuku was saying he was there for him, he still felt alone.
"I understand. I will take your words under consideration." Katsu somehow managed to get to his feet and slowly walked out of the room, even though he was on the verge of collapsing, using the wall as a support as his feet refused to land completely flat on the ground. Eventually he made it out and fell to the ground eventually, crawling to the nurse's office to find a wheelchair so he could move around. Words: 254 | Tag: open
