It was kind of lonely around here, Tomoe was finding. It hadn't been that long since...things had happened, when four of the people who had been living here in what seems just like yesterday were no longer there, their sleeping space forever abandoned, their voices lost forever to the annals of history. Add to that the meeting she had made the mistake of going to when Katsu asked to meet her, and Tomoe had spent the majority of her days either in bed bundled up and only coming out when it was absolutely necessarily or when she got the urge to walk around, she’d go somewhere where she could hide herself away and just be depressed about everything that had happened.
Hatred wasn’t something that Tomoe was used to feeling. She didn’t want to hate anybody ever, being hated was one of the worst things a person could feel or go through, it was a useless emotion, an emotion that only serves to crush the heart. So since she couldn’t bring herself to hate Katsu since he had told her to do, she instead found herself being hurt and alone for the first time since she was a small girl. It was too much for a gentle young heart to take for long you know.
That’s why she chose to hide here in this nurse’s office. She had discovered the area as she was exploring the new floor on her own, pleased at first at the discovery because hey at least now if something happened they wouldn’t have to rely on crushed black pepper again, but more importantly it was somewhere she could stash herself away that wouldn’t raise too many questions. “Hey, Tomoe’s in the nurse’s office. Well she is a doctor of sorts, she must be looking at the supplies.” Simple.
Of course, this wasn’t why she was in here right now. Taking a look around to make sure nobody was around, Tomoe darted in and closed the door behind her. And then she fell to her knees right there in the floor, held everything back for a good ten seconds and finally buried her face in her hands and began to sob softly, trying to hide her emotions from anybody who may walk by.
Her heart hurt so much, she wished it would quit beating before it broke anymore.

WORDS 329 Dr. Feelgood, you left your watch in someones emotions. | This was going to be... annoying. Considering her code, it was probably lucky how she had ended up, but even so, it'd hinder her massively. Not long had passed since the survivors were given a new, sinister motive to hang on their wrist like a ball and chain. She wondered if anyone would slip up. In her case, she'd probably smell awful by the end of this. But, wait, that wasn't the focus. That wasn't her, uh, mission for the day.
Sybil wasn't blind. Wearing a gas mask, she didn't have great peripherals, but she certainly wasn't blind. A certain puppy hugging animal doctor had lost that bubbly, carefree aura of hers. Maybe the true horror of their classmates deaths finally set in for her. Maybe it had to do with Katsu. Sybil didn't know, but while she considered herself... well, awful with people, she wanted to find out. Maybe help if she could. It was either a stupid, optimistic mood, or a heart yearning to make the happiest looking girl happy again. The word artist wouldn't waste time thinking of reasons.
So, the dressed girl found herself at the nurses office. She had searched for a while, asking around, looking in odd places, but this was the first destination when she reached the new floor. It made sense. Really, it was nice they had a facility like this, along with a medical expert. You know, just in case any more arms happen to fall off or something. Gently, the girl knocked on the door, hoping the vet would recognize her muffled voice.
"Tomoe... You in there?" ...Well she heard something behind the door. Either it was an answer or just normal sad human noises. Regardless, she sighed an opened the door. The first thing that came into sight, of course, was the vet herself. Sybil paused, awkwardly... What was she supposed to do? "H.. Hey? Don't look so down, what's wrong?"
Dammit, Sybil, that was a stupid question. |

"H.. Hey? Don't look so down, what's wrong?"
"Ah..." Damn, busted. As the door opened the vet had turned her back quickly to the side so her face would be hidden from anyone who may have entered and began quickly wiping at her eyes with the back of her hand to get rid of any evidence of tears before turning
"Ah, Sybil, hello. Tomoe was just looking for…” fuck, she didn’t plan out an alibi. Quickly the vet scans the floor around her, trying to find something, anything she could use as an excuse to why she was in here and on the floor besides she was in a moment of weakness and self-pity, and of course there was nothing around because why on earth would anything ever go right for her today? There was a small beat that goes by as Tomoe tries to think of something she could say to finish that thought, before deciding the best way to finish that thought was with “…Something.”
Nailed it. Good work, cute little loli vet. Not wanting to give the other girl time to respond tothat bit of brilliance, Tomoe played everyone’s favorite game of “deflect the topic back onto someone else” and did her best to appear completely normal as she got to her feet and brushed off the end of her dress which she had been kneeling on.
“What are you doing here? You were calling Tomoe’s name, did you get hurt and need her for something?”

WORDS 332 Tomoe Hugger needs to get here | ...Jeez.
Sybil was, uhh, ninety-nine percent sure Tomoe would be in this room before arriving. It made sense. Hell, nurses probably got comfortable around needles, or something. She was of this vague idea that anyone who practiced medicine, at best, was comforted by medical supplies. At worst, probably had some fetish for them.
Even with that in mind, she was surprised to see Tomoe just on the ground, crying... No, actually she wasn't so surprised by that. What was truly shocking was how quickly the brightly colored girl recovered. Not quickly enough; the girl in the mask noticed that hand wiping those tears. But she also understood that took strength.
Walking over, she was about to respond to Tomoe's not-so-smooth excuse when the subject shifted onto herself quicker than she could get a word in. Was this... Really a good idea? She wanted to make sure the veterinarian was alright, but that seemed like a subject the younger girl wanted to dodge. A pregnant silence filled the room.
"..N-No, Tomoe. I'm fine... Do y-you need something?" The word artist stepped back, wanting to give Tomoe some room. Making her uncomfortable was pretty much the opposite of her goal. Lacing her hands behind her back, Sybil looked towards the tile floor for some solace. This felt awkward.
"I h-had a feeling that.. Ya know... something might be bothering you. A-And, I guess you could say I... I-I follow my gut a lot." With Tomoe, that term may be taken literally. Who knew. All Sybil hoped for was that Tomoe just stayed put, and didn't dart to escape this. She wanted to know if there was anything that could be done.
Sybil was... aware of a selfish side to this. Even though that only really investigated together, she wanted to consider her a friend. And, in that, she wanted to make her friend feel better and appreciate her. She wondered... Did that really make her efforts a good thing? Maybe Tomoe just needed space.

"I h-had a feeling that.. Ya know... something might be bothering you. A-And, I guess you could say I... I-I follow my gut a lot"
Good job Tomoe, you were so stupid and reckless and selfish that you went and made people worry about you. God, she really could do nothing right right now could she? Even here as she sat here on the floor trying to hide the fact she was so obviously not okay and people were just walking in on her like this because it just causes a big scene and then people get upset and the last thing people needed to be was upset. Not after everything that had happened.
Operation “Tomoe stop moping and act like your usual cheery moodmaker self” could be in effect? Because without another word the white haired girl is beaming as brightly as she could force herself to muster and looked Sybil right in her mask like you are supposed to do to convince people that you’re being truthful with them or that you mean what you say so they won’t doubt your words as much as they would if you were pointedly avoiding eye contact as she says “Tomoe appreciates your concern for Tomoe, but she is completely and totally fine. Really she is. Totally for sure one hundred percent.”
And then turned her gaze away to pretend to scour the room as she pretended to check things off a list in her mind for the one thousandth time in the last thirty seconds. She wasn’t looking for people to worry about her, honestly she wasn’t and the fact people did worry about how the white haired girl was both sad and a little heartwarming, what a combination of feels. There’s a semi awkward silence as Tomoe isn’t sure what you’re supposed to say when you’ve been caught crying but you’re trying to deny having cried at all because you’re really and honestly not sad you can trust her on that, and having no real conversation topic come to mind, she decides to say the first thing that pops out of her brain, which is always a good idea you know.
“It’s funny though, right?”
Good start Tomoe, that won’t be hard to understand the meaning at all. At this point she’s not looking at the masked girl, instead having taken interest on the stretcher in the room as if noticing it for the first time before finally elaborating on what she meant.
“Someone like Tomoe, being here. Thinking she can be of use. It’s like a comedy skit nobody’s written the punchline to yet.”

Sybil Conium
WORDS 467 Post is trash, sorry | With eyes growing a bit wider, Sybil took a step back, a bit startled by the shorter girls slightly aggressive tactic to act convincingly okay. Unfortunately, her efforts to dispel the masked girls worries only made her worry more. It was like a kid trying to blame an accident on something else when it was obviously their fault.. Not saying this is Tomoe's fault, just a comparison. "..Right."
That being the only response she could muster, Sybil considered maybe it was time to get outta dodge. She tried, but Tomoe wasn't letting her in. How did she expect she could help the girl. Sybil was a scary, antisocial weirdo, not the Ultimate Therapist or something.
Of course, right before she was about to turn heel, and let this kid sort out her own problems, which was becoming apparent that that may be the best option, those words caught her attention. Tomoe's wandering halted, and a few words resonated in the room. "It's funny though, right?" Oh hell no. If there was a better opener for a self depreciating statement in any human language, she had yet to discover it. And, naturally, Tomoe proved her right. Stepping forward, the girl cleared her throat a little.
"Could be an antijoke, where there is no punchline." Sybil, what kind of opener was that. If she could, she'd take her mask off and slap her own forehead. Damn bangle. "W-What I mean is.. You're plenty useful, even by existing. Hell, I wanna consider you a friend, you know?" The calligrapher paused. Was Tomoe listening to her, or was she in a trance, staring at that stretcher. Sighing, Sybil went to lean against the bedding. It shifted a little, probably because it was on wheels probably... She'd have to be careful how much weight she burdened it with.
"You're easy to be around, ya know? I.. Haven't had many friends before. The ones I have had, well.. Most of 'em were fake. Th-There's only one good one I can think of before coming here.. But you boosted that number." The girl paused, awkwardly. For someone who could write well, she sure did have a bad time expressing herself to someone else. Probably almost a minute passed before she found her words again. "And that makes me happy.. I think you make a lot of people happy! So... D-Don't go feeling useless.. Pl-" A creak sounded, before the stretcher wheeled back, throwing the girl off balance.
Right. In her heart pouring moment, she must have forgotten about the wheels. As the stretcher disappeared from her back, Sybil fell to the ground, bashing her head against the tile floor. Not too hard, mind you.. her hood must have blunted it. Sitting up, she rubbed her head, wincing under the mask.
"Ahah.. Whoops. That hurt." |

Don't laugh. For the love of god don't laugh, that would be totally rude after all. As poor Sybil crashed to the floor and banged her head against the tile, Tomoe quickly took an interest in whatever was right behind her so Sybil hopefully wouldn't see a smile as the young vet bit down on a knuckle to muffle any sound that threatened to escape. Fate was a cruel mistress you know? Sybil had been saying such a profound thing there and someone had decided that now was a perfect opportunity to take away the tone of everything that had just been said because someone was a heartless jerk who wanted to make the poor masked girl suffer. Taking a few quick breaths to keep her composure as the masked girl had sat up rubbing her head while complaining that it had quite hurt. Tomoe can imagine.
“Hey hey, are you okay Sybil?”
The white-haired vet started to offer a hand out to the other girl but freezes in place when her eyes make contract with the bracelet on her arm and she tries to smoothly as possible transition it into rubbing the back of her own head, because that wasn’t weird at all. This stupid bracelet was a real jerkface. Tomoe wanted to touch and be touched and hug and do all the things she normally does and she can’t unless she wanted to end up like…Keith? Kin? Ken?....The tutor. The poor tutor who had never really spoken to anyone before his death and keeping her hands to herself so far was a real chore.
“…Do… Do you want Tomoe to check your head out for you? It sounded like you hit it pretty hard just now.”
She pressed her fingers together thoughtfully as she gazed at the spot on the floor that Sybil had banged her head on, because it was a bad floor. Bad floor, bad bad floor, that wasn’t nice at all you know.
“Ah, but you’d probably want a people doctor instead of an animal one, huh?”

WORDS 296 Hello... It's me... | Oh. Ohohoho. Sure, the world may have been a bit dimmer thanks to the mask, and her head sure got a bit swimmy, starry vision and all from that knock the the noggin, but she wasn't quite blind yet, Tomoe. The heavily dressed girl noticed that suppressed smile; that demeanor that just screamed that she was so close to bursting into a giggly fit. The vet couldn't see, but Sybil was smiling underneath that expressionless mask..
Hell, she'd tumble more often if it could keep this girl smiling. After the medical professional finally decided to ask about her condition, Sybil shrugged, slowly hoisting herself to her feet. "Could be worse.. I think. Maybe that's a concussion talking." She chuckled, but it was kind of a tasteless joke considering Tomoe might be worried about that slim possibility. When the cutie proposed to checking her head, however, Sybil froze up a bit.
"Oh, n-no.. I think I'm fine, really. My hood, uh.." As she spoke, the girl grabbed her coat hood that always cloaked her head, readjusting it a bit. "Think it blunted the hit a bit.. Don't worry, Tomoe." Downside. She couldn't give a reassuring smile to the girl aside from her eyes.
"Ah, but you’d probably want a people doctor instead of an animal one, huh?"
Shit. That sounded sad. No, the girl just smiled, she couldn't go back to moping. Well, she could, but Sybil dearly hoped they could avoid it.
"Well, a doctors a doctor. Just.. some help humans, some help cuddly animals. I just don't think I'm really injured.. Besides..." Her voice faltered for a second, not knowing what to say. "Well, your company is probably easing this pain more anyway. Sucks to get hurt and have no one around to see you."

"Well, a doctors a doctor. Just.. some help humans, some help cuddly animals. I just don't think I'm really injured.. Besides..."
The masked girl paused and Tomoe cocked her head to the side as she waited for the other girl to finish saying whatever was going to follow that thought up with, as this totally enthralling conversation between two people takes place. God bless these girls, each of them were their own shade of hopeless and when you paired them together like this you got a splotch of “dear god why” thrown together like a Warhol painting on a canvas.
"Well, your company is probably easing this pain more anyway. Sucks to get hurt and have no one around to see you."
Awww, that was adorable. The vet blinked in surprise when the masked girl finished her thought, but the then beamed brightly at Sybil, any depressed thoughts that the girl might have felp had all but vanished for the moment. It was odd the effect that being around those one considers friends can have on the psyche, isn’t it? Tugging on the end of some strands of her hair, Tomoe stood around awkwardly trying to figure out something profound to say that would wrap up this meeting between the two of them before simply opening up the door wide so the two of them could leave the nursing room.
“Let’s go play a game or something, okay Sybil?”
She didn’t really leave room for a debate here. To be frank even if Sybil didn’t want to play, Tomoe would probably follow her around like a puppy. It was nice to have friends.
