Sybil Conium
WORDS 529 Shared trait with Sybil: Talking to myself, whoops. | Calm down. Walk around, explore, let your mind wander, revel that no one's here. You have this place all to yourself. Go ahead! Take a deep breath, savor that rotten, sickening air. Let those muscles relax, wait for those nerves to drift away. Today, Sybil. Today you're going to just enjoy yourself with that girl... That ever intriguing girl. Whether she hated you, or was simply indifferent regarding the mishap that occured not long before Shirong's death... You're just so determined to get to know her, and keep your word, aren't you? Why not try to escape the grim cloud hanging over your heads while your at it?
...Wait, how long did she have? Looking around, she noticed there still wasn't anyone around. Good... Because she had a feeling she was talking to herself again. She wanted to find Akimi by high noon... Though with that ugly sky, any time of day seemed the same. Taking a final breath, she tapped her wrist bangle, frowning at the words.
"Th-This damn thing.. If only I'd done this sooner." Curiously, Sybil took a sniff under her arm, trying to see if she was starting to smell or something. Nothing much, but then again, she probably wouldn't be able to smell much. Craning her neck around her shoulder one last time, she wandered off the bridge.
Despite their living space becoming slightly expanded, it was still awfully small. Wasn't hard to find Akimi at all. Sybil had been worried once she found the girl, she would be a bit nervous, and wouldn't be able to talk without stuttering. After all, it might be awkward to be around her at first. The calligrapher at least had the forethought to write down her invitation on paper.. Though she was determined to face Akimi while giving it.
So, finding the light haired girl, Sybil gave a short hello before handing her the letter. It's contents were, at least, pleasing to the eye. That was all she was good at afterall.
"It's good to see you again, Ms. Suzuki. I hope you feel the same, but understand if not. I'd like to get to know you more, however. On the new floor opened after the trial, I've discovered a recreational room. If you're not busy, I think it'd be a good place to spend some time..."
Jesus. As she saw the girl's eyes scan the note, Sybil felt a bit anxious. She was thankful the mask shielded her. It probably read like some 7th grader with a crush.. Still, she doubted she'd be able to word that well verbally. Her first impression was as a murderer, you don't just brush that kind of stuff off.
...
The letter, it seemed, at least got Akimi to agree. Not long after that meeting, they were stepping into the new room. It was a bit nicer than, well, most of the factory.
"Would you like to play a board game? Or a card game? Chess? ..I'm kinda the best at those. Or, w-we could.. Hmm."
Her eyes wandered. Well.. There was a pool table smack dab in the middle of the room. Though she hadn't played in a long time. |

The today I chose is ordinary,
and it's about to crumble. Approached by the masked girl, Akimi accepted the letter with a somewhat surprised expression. It looked like Sybil wanted the two of them to bond as friends in the Rec Room, if this pretty-looking letter was anything to go by.
The Rec Room. A part of her wondered if the masked girl had picked that place because she's seen how frequently she spends her time there. While she was the type to stick to a routine, this letter had brought to her attention a potentially deadly problem.
'Am I being too obvious with my habits?' Akimi wondered, worried that somebody might choose to take advantage of that. Was Sybil trying to take advantage of that?
...Probably not. The masked girl, from what she's observed, didn't look to be the type to kill. 'At least not the type to kill me in particular.'
And so, the Ikebana Artist agreed to go along with the masked girl's plan. She gave Sybil a small nod, writing out a message of her own. (Even though she looked like she was struggling to do so, if her frequent pauses of pen-strokes were anything to go by.)
"I'm happy to accompany you. And you can drop Ms - it's gratuitous. Just a small bit."
As the two of them walked, Akimi had initially trailed a step or two behind Sybil, but eventually thinking it impolite, sped up a little so that the two of them were side by side. Not that there was any conversation along the way - Akimi didn't initiate anything on her part, and neither did Sybil. But at the very least, she thought that it was a comfortable silence. As comfortable as one could be here in this factory, at any rate.
Stepping into the room, Akimi looked at the masked girl as she voiced out her thoughts about what they could do. Chess was a good option - it was relaxing, and cards was too. Anything that didn't require verbal communication, honestly. She even even remembered having a decent time playing charades once in the past. Though following the trail set by Sybil's gaze, what was at the end of it brought a small smile out of Akimi.
She remembered having a decent time at pool too.
When the girl turned back to look at her, Akimi's expression waived the need of any spoken words. Smiling, she gave Sybil a small nod, walking over to pick out a cue among those that were neatly aligned by the side of the room.

Sybil Conium
WORDS 559 "Would you like to break" sounds really creepy outta context. | Gratuitous, huh? Sybil was trying considerably hard to make a good impression upon meeting with Akimi again. Was she trying too hard? It’s not like this is the first time they’ve interacted since the elevator incident; they had a communal life together after all. It was just that, for actively spending time with the ikebana artist for the first time, the masked girl wanted to avoid causing any possible discomfort or dissatisfaction in the girl. Fidgeting a bit with her coat cuffs, she nodded at Akimi’s request. Then, pondering on the other girls question for a moment, she wrote.
"Well, I haven’t noticed your routine to be particularly bad, but it may be a good idea to switch around your daily schedule, or something…" Her pen paused on the page, ink setting in as a single dot. By writing this, she was essentially showing a big lack in trust for her fellow captives… Was that right? Regardless, better to doubt and live than stay blind and die, right? Sybil concluded her note with, "Just stay safe. If you worry, maybe I can help." Wanting to wave away the grim talk for the time, though, the word artists eagerly made her way to the rec room with Akimi.
Writing was obviously the best form of communication for the two girls, between Akimi’s disability and Sybil’s voice getting muffled by her mask. Maybe if it had some sort of speaker, to amplify her voice, it would be more bearable. But the mask seems only designed to, well, keep one’s lungs safe from toxic gas and the sort. Speaking through written words probably wouldn’t be possible all the time, but Sybil was sure to keep her new notebook handy for the occasions that it was.
"Ah, pool.. I admit, I-I’m probably not very good at it, but I’d love to try." A bit timidly, Sybil grabbed a pool cue, just the right length for her, and began to set up the balls. She at least understood the rules. Sink your own balls, avoid number eight until the end, don’t sink the white ball, stuff like that. Her weakness in the game would come in the place that she had never actually played the game itself, and therefore won’t be a very good… Shot? Is that what you would call it, she wondered. As she placed the ivory balls in a triangle near one end of the table, Sybil began to talk again, trying to speak clearly. "Guess you could say I’ve always stayed crammed in my room, so this stuff is kinda new to me. Well, newish."
Not just playing pool, but actively spending time with another person just to have a fun time and get to know each other. Sybil doubted that implication was lost on the ponytailed girl. Even so, under that mask, she just had a giddy smile on her face. Today promised to be fun.
After neatly aligning the spheres in what could be said to be a perfect triangle, Sybil grabbed her pool cue and stepped around the table to get closer to her partner. Even if her face was hidden, she.. Sybil hoped her eyes smiled enough. Unhindered by that hideous scar over her right eye. Grabbing her pen and paper, she wrote down her next words for the deaf girl. "Would you like to break?"
