MEI MEIYO -KENJUTSU MASTER- This room... What was the purpose? What was this squishy stuff that lay on the ground? It looked fluffy and cushioned Mei Meiyo's feet as she walked. The parts of it that was white even looked like freshly fallen snow. Mei picked some of it up, feeling the strange stuff between her fingers. She could pull it apart, but then it would look more like cobwebs than snow, as she quickly found out. "What is this...?" Mei whispered aloud. Surely, if Joo were here, then the Poet could tell Mei. Heck, even Da Ji or, if he was still here, Shirong... Mei shut her eyes in a sudden reminiscence, recalling the Guardian and the sword that was currently above her bed. He was unfairly taken by the Strategist and, well, Ryuu got what he deserved in the end, Mei supposed.
Although, the more she thought about it, the more hypocritical she sounded to herself. Surely, there were people out there who wanted her dead. Families that she had torn apart in the fulfilling of a hit request. Mei knew why her grandfather disapproved of her accepting hit requests, but the Kenjutsu Master knew that it was her place. To be the sword of the world. This killing game though, it was different, and the reason was in the title of 'Killing Game'. The Monokuma saw it as a game, with sick, twisted rules like the Kill Commands and the Revival Potion. How could they be so indifferent? If you want to kill, you make it as quick a death as possible. No, this was just... despair and sadism. Mei shook her head, the dark thoughts making even the fluff filled room seem threatening and Mei cried out, "Why!? Why do you do this!?" knowing that, at least, someone might hear.

It's no secret that the Monokuma Bros. loved messing around with people, even though their own rules prohibit them from doing so whenever they liked. The only times they appeared before the students were whenever a trial happened and whenever a new motive was given out. Or when a rule was broken and they had to punish someone, not that the latter option was of use yet, aside from the time they warned Taro about breaking the factory's property.
But this was new, the Bros. looked at their surveillance cameras and saw a person in the Land of Stuffing. Turns out, it was the Kenjutsu Master Mei Meiyo. Her wearing black and red made her stick out like a sore thumb amongst all the fluffiness. The brothers figured that the vet would be the first to be here, but apparently they were mistaken.
The young woman( maybe girl instead?) looked at the stuffing as if it was the first time she ever saw it. Shortly after, she called out for someone.
And right on cue, the Bros. appeared, safe behind their monitor. They are one-of-a-kind, if they were damaged or destroyed, that'd be like an animal species going extinct! And that is something nobody wants, right?
"Yeeeeesss? How can we help, Ms. Meiyo?"
"By the way, what you have there is called 'stuffing', it's the blood of every plush toy! So, in a way, you're trudging around in a sea of blood. You are a horrible being."
After they made their hypocritical joke, they laughed. They loved their bad jokes.
"Oh, why we do this?", the bear brothers got to Mei's original question. "Uh, well, because we can. What other reason is there? We love watching people struggle and fight for their survival. Shouldn't you know it best from everyone here?"
The brothers kept their watch on her.

MEI MEIYO -KENJUTSU MASTER- Mei was about to turn around and head back, especially since this room seemed to hold no purpose. The not-snow was fascinating, but not something to hold the swordswoman's attention. However, as she called, the Monokuma Bros. appeared, or, rather, they came onscreen. Mei watched for a good while as they said their piece. Stuffing? So then...
"If I were to cut you open then, this is what would come out? However..." Mei tilted her head, "This glass between us makes that hard. Why can you not actually come out? Are you... scared? Scared that you need to hide your true bodies from my blades?" Her red eyes flashed threateningly, though she was sure the Monokuma Bros. though nothing of it. They were, after all, the ones in power here. Mei took a deep breath. A sea of blood would be nothing new... Blood that looks like freshly fallen snow, however, is something entirely different.
"We love watching people struggle and fight for their survival."
"That is... If so... Why take it so far? Why trap us in this... this dirty building and turn it into a game for your amusement?" Mei's voice didn't hold anger but, rather, curiousity as she genuinely asked the bears her question.
"Shouldn't you know it best from everyone here?"
Mei shut her eyes at that statement and murmured, "I don't kill for fun. It's a job that I must fulfill. When I am asked to kill, in normal circumstances, I must. However, these are not normal circumstances. I assume you are waiting for when I lay my blade against another in this place? Well, it won't be easy to convince me."

The girl was strange, the Bros. thought. And yet, she was somehow right.
"You see, not only would stuffing come out of us if you attacked us. Which, by the way, you can totally do during a trial, you know. Trials are a special occasion in which we need to be physically present. Also...", one of them laughed.
"...You didn't visit the Fail-Safe Creation Center, did you? Then you'd know what else would await you if you were to cut us open. To save you time however, inside us are bombs. If you were to attack, we'd explode and level the entire factory. No chance of survival. Nope. No way. So we hide mostly for you guys' sakes!"
Then there was the question of 'Why?' again. Nevertheless, the brothers responded. "You answered your own question, sweetheart. We do this for our own amusement, and for the outside world as well! You have no idea how many great ratings we get, especially once a murder has been committed!"
When she mentioned on how her killing than another person's killing, they shook their head. "Killing is killing.", they responded. "It doesn't matter how or why you do it, but you're still ending lives. The only difference here is that you'll be punished if you're caught. You can't tell us that you can't refuse to kill when told to."
One of the brothers laughed. "But... let's see. Okay, we'll ask you to kill Oppenheimer. You know, that handless freak. Regardless of what you do, that shows us that you have free will. If you kill him, we'll punish you for killing him. And if you don't, then you can also refuse others asking you to kill."
The Bros. wondered if their vocabulary wasn't too high-level for the swordswoman. They hoped she could understand them.

MEI MEIYO -KENJUTSU MASTER- For a brief moment, Mei wondered if the Monokuma Bros. were even listening to her, but she chased that thought out of her mind quickly. These bears, they weren't like her, were they? She wasn't like them, was she? They didn't feel remorse. Instead, they felt pleasure in killing. When Shirong's body was found, they laughed. They probably celebrated that their motive had been successful. Mei could never feel happiness in killing someone. No, she felt relief. Relief that her mission was over. How many had it been by now... Too many to count. She had killed so many... Her hand traveled down to the wakizashi at her hip instinctively. When on a mission, Mei used her own katana, as using Takeo would be disrespectful. They were her missions, not her brother's. No, all swords had their purpose. Takeo wanted to protect Mei, so his wakizashi was to protect herself. Shirong wanted to protect others, so should she need to do that, his blade would be used. Mei's blade were for her missions or threatening situations. If a fight became too much, she would combine her spirit with Takeo's and dual wield her blades. A blade's purpose was second nature to her.
"If you were to attack, we'd explode and level the entire factory." Well, it seemed like Mei had just found the last resort. If things got too bad and something that threatened more than just herself and everything in the factory were to be discovered, she could eliminate the threat by destroying everything with the Monokuma.
"We do this for our own amusement, and for the outside world as well! You have no idea how many great ratings we get, especially once a murder has been committed!"
"Ratings? I am not familiar with that term... However, I do not think that is the problem. You speak as if the outside world... wants to watch this! Surely that cannot be. Who would want to watch this senseless killing?" Mei shut her eyes.
"But... let's see. Okay, we'll ask you to kill Oppenheimer. You know, that handless freak. Regardless of what you do, that shows us that you have free will. If you kill him, we'll punish you for killing him. And if you don't, then you can also refuse others asking you to kill."
There it was, that manipulating tone that so many used with Mei. But it seemed like the bears were a step behind. It was her turn to scold them, "Must I repeat myself? I said in a normal circumstance and then I proceeded to say that this was not a normal circumstance as I quickly found out with Oppenheimer. People here won't kill because they have a good reason. They'll kill because you manipulate them just like you're trying to do with me. You can't tell me that Sasaki and Kamiya would've killed in a normal circumstance! And Hakuchi didn't even know he had murdered. The only people here who would kill of their own volition are me... and you. The you who is behind the scenes." Normally, Mei would have never spoken so harshly to anyone... But this was different. This was a person who killed for amusement and fun.

Right, right, normal circumstances. For normal people, a killing game was everything but normal. But before the two robotic bears got to that point, they had to explain something else.
"You don't know how awful people can be? Weird, considering you're a hitwoman in everything but name..." The two of them looked at each other. "Just for you, we'll explain this. It's a concept named 'Schadenfreude', and it basically means 'getting enjoyment from the suffering of others'. Yeah, there are people watching!"
The brothers turned their eyes away from Mei and were looking for a certain button to push to prove a point to the swordswoman. With an audible 'click', the brothers disappeared from the screen, being replaced by a blue screen with a number in the millions range, rising and falling perpetually. Once more, the robotic bears' voices resounded.
"The number you're seeing right now is the amount of people watching you as of this moment! Sometimes they zap to other channels, though. What a bummer if you ask us, but we didn't have the budget to take over every single channel."
When the black-haired girl scolded the Bros., all they could do was laugh. "That's a good one!", they snorted. "You should try to be a comedian!"
They coughed. "People kill for a lot of reasons. Our job is just to give you the reasons you need to kill. The rest is on you. It's your choice if you want to kill or not, but the motives we give out make all of this interesting. Nobody wants to watch a reality TV show where everyone gets along, how boring is that? So we spiced this up with the trials and punishments! This new motive is a perfect reason for you to kill now, isn't it? You stab someone, they die, and you get your beloved Shirong back! Who knows, maybe he'll actually do his job and die protecting you? Taking the blame onto himself during the trial?"
Then the two of them thought back on the other blackeneds. "Well, you don't know Mr. Sasaki. He seems like the type to send you to your death and not even feel bad about it. He may not directly kill you, but he would totally be responsible for your death. Mr. Hakuchi... Well, him living as long as he did was bordering on the miraculous. But rules are rules. He caused the chain of events to unfold which resulted in the murder of Mr. Sasaki, thus making him the blackened. Manslaughter is a punishable offense too, even if it's not premediated like murder. And Ms. Kamiya..." They shrugged. "We'll give you her. In fact, we don't even know why she was even here in the first place. Maybe because her breakdown was delicious? Upupupu!!"
Then they waited for Mei's response once more.

MEI MEIYO -KENJUTSU MASTER- Awful. That was a word that Mei had heard many times before. Especially from her grandfather. You need to stop, Mei. What you’re doing… it’s just awful... Taking lives away like that… ruins families and relationships.” She hadn’t realized that she had said part of it aloud, but Mei quickly broke free of that reminiscence and brought her mind back to the task at hand. Surely, there weren’t that many awful people in the world, right? Surely the number of kind people outweighed those awful people… right? That’s what Takeo had believed anyway. He had always told Mei to never give up hope because there would always be people out there that would be nice and carry her flame. Mei shook her head. Why hadn’t she just talked to more people back then? Now, having been forced into a situation where she needed to be social, it seemed silly. Even now, she was talking to these bears without a blade in her hand. Was it because they were her enemy or because they were behind a screen…? Perhaps she was just getting comfortable with speaking.
Mei thought back to that. Were they really her enemy? As of right now, at this moment, Mei was conflicted. Five minutes ago and she would’ve said ‘Of course’ without a second thought. But now, the bears were taking time to speak to her and it wasn’t even like she knew the motives behind this killing game. After all, Mei had a difficult time believing that it was solely for entertainment. There had to be an ulterior motive, right?
Then the bears disappeared from the screen and were replaced by a… rather large number.
"The number you're seeing right now is the amount of people watching you as of this moment! Sometimes they zap to other channels, though. What a bummer if you ask us, but we didn't have the budget to take over every single channel."
Channel? Mei was unfamiliar with the word. However, she was too focused on the number to care. A low growl emanated from within her as she touched the blade’s hilt again. “This is… absurd.” Surely, the number was fake. There was no way that so many people would derive pleasure from this horrible stuff…
“This new motive is a perfect reason for you to kill now, isn't it? You stab someone, they die, and you get your beloved Shirong back! Who knows, maybe he'll actually do his job and die protecting you? Taking the blame onto himself during the trial?" There was that manipulation again but… They had a point for once. Shirong… She could bring Shirong back. He had died unfairly and it would be a valid reason to… No. To kill another to bring him back? That was… That was ridiculous! Mei gritted her teeth and slid out her Wakizashi on instinct, holding it in her right hand, “Lui didn’t deserve to die. That’s true. But no one else deserves to die either, therefore, taking another life would be unnecessary. I am familiar with manipulation. Many people attempt to manipulate me to get me to kill. There’s a difference though. In a normal situation, they wouldn’t need to manipulate me. You however, I will not allow to manipulate me… I can’t. Not without good reason! And none of your motives have been very motivating to me.”
“Well, you don't know Mr. Sasaki. He seems like the type to send you to your death and not even feel bad about it. He may not directly kill you, but he would totally be responsible for your death.”
“Sasaki… No, I don’t think even he would kill without you pushing him too it! I’m sure you know his backstory. How many people has Sasaki killed?” Mei demanded, but as the Monokuma continued, her confusion only rose. “What? You brought Kamiya here! What do you mean ‘You don’t know why she was here?’ You murdered her sister without even giving her a chance!”
Kaede… That’s what Yoko said her sister’s name was and Mei felt the 5-ball that was in her pocket in reminiscence of Yoko.

Hmm, dealing with Mei was tougher than the Bear Brothers thought. Despite appearing dim, there actually was a semblance of a brain in that head of hers. How dare she talk back to the Bros.?
...Hold on, talking back to the Bros. wasn't against the rules, and she was still pretty respectful, putting aside that she held her sword in her right hand.
"We see, so our tactics of messing with you kinda failed. Big whoop, whatever. Since you mentioned Mr. Sasaki as well, let us just say that including this wonderful killing game, he was responsible for the deaths of at least two people. We won't say more because he made for a very interesting first case, wouldn't you say?"
However, when Mei insinuated that the Bros. motives weren't very motivating, their eyes began to glow eerily for a short while, before returning to normal. For a second they thought she meant that they weren't motivating at all, before they recalled that she said that they were of no use to her and her alone.
The former case would have been a lie, anyway. Anyone would kill for a chance to not only get out, but get a bonus as well. The Bros. were thinking of showing Shirong on the screen again to mess with Mei, but then decided against it. Despite her obvious crush on Shirong, it'll be a waste of time and energy.
"About Ms. Kamiya... That was a rhetorical statement! We wanted to see her react to her sister's death. I mean, everything's just a prank, you know? A big ol' trick! We decided the order of who lived and who died with a coin flip. Simple and fair, right? Right."
As entertaining as Ms. Meiyo was, even the Bros. would grow tired of her face at some point, so they hoped she'd at least do or say something entertaining before leaving.

MEI MEIYO -KENJUTSU MASTER- Anger. It builds up inside of you, unknowing and unaware that it is there at first. Signs can be evident, such as the tightening of one's hand against their sword, or the suttle gritting of one's teeth. Perhaps though, the most telltale sign of anger, at least for Mei Meiyo, who stood in front of the screen to the Monokuma Bros, was that her red eyes shown with malice. The bears... They were quite frustrating. But Mei was still torn. Talking to them like this, it was like they weren't her enemy at all. But yet, the words they spoke, they were... cruel? No, that wasn't it. Twisted? No, that wasn't it either. Insensitive? Perhaps. They spoke of the dead as mere tools. Tools for despair. Hmm... I wonder what these bears truly think of us. Are we all just mere playthings? Perhaps... I wish I could know who was behind the screen. Know their motives... There's always a motive... I won't accept otherwise.
She shook her head to clear her thought process, but in doing so, a stray lock of hair sprang up and Mei knew it. Freaking out in a very out of character way, she bat at her head. Surely she looked rather comical, jumping up and down to get a single piece of hair to stay down. When at last the hair was back in place, she sighed. "Sasaki, or rather... Hakuchi's case was confusing. We were unaware of how your game worked and, yet, two bodies were dropped at once."
She could sense malice from behind the screen... Was it something she said? Oh, wait. It was gone now. How interesting, the emotions of these bears were almost humanlike.
"I am unfamiliar with the word 'rhetorical', but... a prank? How can killing someone amount to a prank? I fail to see your logic there. I have killed many, many people in my lifetime, but none of them have caused any emotions that a prank might cause." Mei stops for a second, "But I can prank people too... I think. I've never tried."
The Kenjutsu Master thinks for a second before rolling up the sleeve of her scarred arm. She had injured it while trying to stay awake for the Kill Command motive. Then, with barely a second thought, she sliced it back open with the sword in her hand, allowing blood to flow down. "You said that I was 'trudging in a sea of blood', yes? How's this for a sea of blood!"
She suddenly darts around the room, sending blood... everywhere. The cotton is all stained with her blood and all at once, the room really does look like a sea of blood. A battlefield. After all is said and done, Mei is huffing, panting. She reaches into her pocket and pulls out... bandages. Yes, they are the same ones she used with Shirong's sword. She wraps her bloody arm and then turns back to the screen.

The bears tilted their heads on the Kenjutsu Master's comment.
"Confusing? Whatever do you mean? It was the first case, naturally it was the easiest one!" They then shrugged. "Unless you count Mr. Sasaki killing Mr. Lui as the first case, and Mr. Hakuchi killing Mr. Sasaki as the second one. We just kinda threw both of them together for an exciting two-in-one case."
The Bros. personally thought that Mei's jumping up and down was everything but comical or entertaining, so they just yawned in response to her acts.
Then, from out of nowhere, she suddenly cut her arm open and stained the cotton with blood.
"Hey!", the Bros. yelled. "What do you think you're doing to our wonderful cotton!? Aah, whatever. It's still cotton, we can still put it into the Monokuma units. If that was supposed to be a prank, then you've utterly failed at it. But we don't mind if you bled out, either. It'd make for a hilarious class trial, that's for certain! We mean, you did realize we weren't being serious when we said that everything was just a prank, right? If you didn't, we pity you."
The bears then yawned again, the leaner one dozing off.
"You know, you've killed some time, but now you're getting boring. We have things to run, so see ya!"
With that, the Bros. left Mei to her own devices.

MEI MEIYO -KENJUTSU MASTER- All in all, the talking to the Monokuma Bros. had been rather fruitless. She didn't learn much about the situation or even about who was behind it, however, as she looked around at the now stained cotton, she realized that the one fluffy place looked more like... A warfield. She looked down at her bandaged arm and then back up. You silly bears, won't this make the next investigation more "fun" to you? After all, my blood is masking the whole room now... She grabbed some of the cotton, the blood was already drying. "Hmm..."
She bites her lip, "They wished that I would bleed out, hm? I've killed people like that before." She sits in a clean spot of the room for a bit as she sits and thinks. People expect me to commit a murder. I know that. They see the person who's carrying swords and that gets them thinking in their head. What will she do? Will I be her target? But that's to be expected, isn't it? They are justified in their thoughts. I have killed in the past and I will in the future, should I get out. Because that's who I am.
Then she stands up and speaks out loud. She knows the bears can still hear her, "We really aren't all that different, are we? You kill, I kill. We just go about it in different ways. Perhaps it's for different reasons, but I'm sure you do not feel remorse over it, the same as me. I can no longer count how many people have been struck down by my blades, but my soul is surely stained with their blood and it will continue to be that way. Those people I've killed, I'm sure they had families but... I don't care. In the end, I fulfilled my duty. I killed them like I was supposed to. I touched their cold bodies and made warfields out of their blood just like the one you see here. And now... We share the same blood. Or at least, your future bear kin will. It just proves that we aren't different. Deep inside, we are both cold-hearted killers. It's a fact that cannot be disproven. People here expect me to be a killer. I know that, of course, and their thoughts are well-founded. Even you two, as you make bets in your chamber of who will be the next to strike and fall, as you constantly search for your next source of entertainment, cannot deny it. And if I am to be struck down in this game of killing... So be it. I see you as a worthy rival now. One that I am willing to accept defeat to."
