[googlefont="VT323"] Computers are magnificent tools for the realization of our dreams, but no machine can replace the human spark of spirit, compassion, love, and understanding. Katsu had finally found the bedrooms yesterday, and was disheartened by the fact he couldn't be safely alone, as the other guys also slept in this room. He just wanted to be alone. He had found a corner in that room to squeeze himself into and eventually fell asleep on his bed. He just wanted to be alone. He just wanted to be alone. Please, he wanted to be alone. He didn't want to be afraid of getting killed while he slept. He didn't want any of that. Eventually, however, these thoughts lulled him to sleep somehow. He awoke later in the day, and found his way out of the room, shaking slightly, so he took another one of his pills. These wouldn't last forever. When he ran out… it would be scary for him.
He found his legs guiding him to the kitchen on the ninth floor. The eighth floor was full of nasty nasty salad. Salad was terrible. Katsu preferred the sweets. Or the meat too, that was fine. He just didn't like salad, it wasn't sweet or savory enough for him. Unless it was a taco salad with the 'salad' the hamburger meat. That was tasty. He was going to stock up on the best of foods that were able to be preserved so he didn't have to leave the boy's room as much as possible. He had to set things up so he could call this place home, at least for now. He had to be comfortable for a little bit at the very least. Katsu had already made a couple trips, hiding cans of food, large quantities of gummies, and various other non-expiring foods under his bed. Now he was looking for food to eat right now.
Grabbing a couple bags of gummies, he tore it open and started to eat some, several other bags shoved into the pockets of his jacket, while he looked for something to eat for lunch. Yummy yummy food. He was looking forward to eating food. Food was good. He wasn't even dwelling on the fact yesterday he saw two dead bodies, and Tomoe standing over his head body having killed him. He was just sorta moving on it looked like though in the back of his head, subconsciously he was working terribly hard to work on a solution to this problem situation they were in.

This place was kind of neat. She didn't really understand why some people were opposed to it, it had yummy snacks, lots of fun art stuff and cute bears, what could be better? Tomoe was practically skipping around the factory having just come from the refinement center she now had several poster boards under her arm and a bag full of markers in her hand and she was just as happy as a clam in front of a big pile of salt on a table. While some people were bemoaning what was going on, Tomoe chose to ignore it all for the most part.
It was all a game, after all. A weird game that she didn’t fully understand why she had to play, but a game. Nobody would really kill anyone so there was no point in being hung up on the thought. They were all just kids after all, right? Right. So, art supplies in hand Tomoe had wandered her way up a flight of stairs, struggling not to drop any of her posters and finally made it to a kitchen where she had planned to set up her drawing station when she saw a familiar looking back bent over the fridge, looking for something to eat.
And suddenly she had a silly idea.
Putting her art supplies on a counter as quietly as she could, Tomoe started to sneak up on the person from behind when a thought suddenly occurred to her. This person was taller than Tomoe you know, she wouldn’t be able to do what she planned like this. Pouting slightly, Tomoe took a quick look around and spotting a chair tried to drag it over just as quietly, although the chair legs banged against the floor every so often. Setting the chair right behind the boy who somehow hadn’t looked behind him yet, Tomoe climbed onto the chair and not wanting to risk any more time being wasted clamped her hands over the boy’s eyes from behind.
“Hehe, guess who Katchan.”

[googlefont="VT323"] Computers are magnificent tools for the realization of our dreams, but no machine can replace the human spark of spirit, compassion, love, and understanding. He couldn’t decide on what to eat. There were so many choices. The gummies were really tasty but he always had those, and if they ran out of gummies he would only have the tons of gummies he had hidden under his bed, which anyone could steal, like the thief they were. Katsu was just chewing on a gummy when suddenly he went blind. He blinked a couple times wondering what was going on and soon he registered someone's hands were in front of his eyes, blocking his vision. Luckily that meant he wasn't actually blind… yet.. And hopefully. Who knew, when the hands were removed he might still be unable to see anything.
A familiar voice sounded and Katsu smile, holding up a gummy and slowly moving it behind him, offering it to his visitor. "Are you… Mei? No wait. Joo." Katsu was of course teasing her, something that he rarely did because he wasn't good at it. However, he was testing out different social skills and Tomoe was a good person to test them on because she was good at these things, and she would tell him if he did it wrong. Also, she would always be his friend even if he made a mistake. She would believe him if he told her the truth that he didn't mean to fail at whatever he was trying to do. "No that's not it. Hold on. Give me one last guess. Are you… Tomoe?" Katsu grinned, eating one of his gummies, still offering her a gummy which he planned for her to just grab with her teeth and hopefully not bite him in the process.
Katsu couldn't help but smile when he was around Tomoe. She made him want to smile. She was adorable and loveable and he didn't understand how anyone could ever dislike her. She was amazing and he never wanted to be without her. Sometimes he forgot how it felt when he was around her, locked up in his room, but then she would come knocking or he would eventually find his way to her, and he would feel the weight of the world lifted off his shoulders. "What are you doing here, Tomoe? Do you want to play a game?" He was always up for a game, though he didn't like the premise of the game they were in right now. It was a dangerous one. But they could always play a game inside this game and have fun and laugh and smile and be happy.

"Are you… Mei? No wait. Joo."
Oh hey, maybe she had really fooled him. Tomoe was surprisingly good at this, wasn’t she? Puffing her tiny little chest out with some pride, Tomoe notices that the older boy as snaking a yummy looking gummy snack behind his back out towards her and she’s tempted to take it in her teeth and eat it like a dog taking a treat, but if he really did think that she was Mei or Joo then he would be sad if she were to take treats for someone else. So even though she wanted very much to eat that delicious treat he had in his hand, she really had to resist the ur-
"No that's not it. Hold on. Give me one last guess. Are you… Tomoe?"
Oh, he got it. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay! After Katsu says her name she takes the blue gummy treat in her teeth and uncovers his eyes, grinning at the hacker as she hops down off of the chair she had so subtly brought over so she could play. She had complete faith in you getting it eventually Katsu, honest and she vigorously nods her head up and down, gummy still clenched in her teeth as she did so so you saw a blue blur move up and down in joy. “Yeff, Iff Tomoe. Good jof Kafsu!”
And with that said Tomoe threw her head back and snapped the blue snack out of the air like a dog who had been balancing a treat on their nose. Gummies were right up there at the top of her favorite foods list, if it was physically possible this would be all that she would eat all day every day. Damn you human biology, always taking the fun out of things. Swallowing down the tasty gummy goodness, Tomoe beams at the older boy and giggles cheerfully. “Dewicious.”
Nothing like a dewicious tweat to start the day.
"What are you doing here, Tomoe? Do you want to play a game?"
Ah, right. At the question Tomoe shakes her head a bit and gestures with her head towards the scattered supplies that were on the table a few feet away and didn’t speak for a moment just in case Katsu felt like sharing any more delicious treats, but finally digs through the back and pulls out a few markers of various colors and holds them up at perfect eyeline for Katsu to see what her plan for the day was.
“Tomoe was gonna draw a bit, since she found some art supplies down stairs. You wanna draw Katsu?”
Maybe throw a few more of those gummies her way as wall, please?

[googlefont="VT323"] Computers are magnificent tools for the realization of our dreams, but no machine can replace the human spark of spirit, compassion, love, and understanding. It seemed odd to Katsu, even know he knew the concept of friendship and love, that he could never seem to get enough of Tomoe smiling with that blue gummy in her mouth. It always made him smile. Many people said that there was such a thing as too much of a good thing, but he hadn't reached that limit with Tomoe, and he couldn't see a point when he would. Her smile was addicting, her giggles brought him such joy despite his mind being a dark place he easily could get lost in. However, despite this, Katsu worried deeply about Tomoe and how people would view their relationship in this game. After all, strong bonds could lead to lying to try to help them get off the murder charge. Then people would try to kill off the power couple. For now, he let these worries slide off his back, as no one had actually died yet and he planned to try to get everyone out… somehow. It really was too bad that computer in that office was broken beyond repair, else he would easily get at least Tomoe and himself out.
"Draw?" Katsu wasn't a very good artist. He wasn't the best with his motor skills for a few reasons, though he was still good at typing, due to his insane amount of practice in the past. Katsu closed the refrigerator door and turned towards Tomoe with a lazy expression on his face as he ate one of his gummies and offered her another. Despite the fact, he was not even close to an artist, he couldn't turn down an opportunity to spend time with Tomoe. And drawing would take his mind off the things that were stressing his mind out at this time. Plus, drawing was fun, especially with Tomoe. Fun was good. It made him smile. Just like when he managed to get through a tough firewall, that feeling of great joy was the same.
"Of course. Maybe we could draw those bears. Everyone seems to be mean to them. We could hang up signs to remind people that being mean probably hurts their feelings."

"Draw?"
Tomoe nodded her head quickly again, sending hair flying as if this was something totally normal and not at all something weird and out of the ordinary. I mean it wasn't like these kids were in a situation where some cute bears had gathered them together and suddenly told them to kill either other or anything like that. This was a perfectly rational time to just get together with friends and make some pretty pretty art, right?
Sometimes one had to wonder what it was like to live in Tomoe’s brain. It must be a lovely place where nothing bad ever happened to explain why she was so...Tomoe. Grinning happily as Katsu offered her another gummy treat, Tomoe once again took it in her teeth and tossed her head back, throwing the gummy snack into the air and watching it in her wide open mouth. She had gotten quite good at catching things into her mouth, she's had a lot of practice. Many hours of just her and her group of friends, throwing things at their faces and trying to catch them in their mouth
"Of course. Maybe we could draw those bears. Everyone seems to be mean to them. We could hang up signs to remind people that being mean probably hurts their feelings."
See, this is why they were best friends. Tomoe hadn't even considered the feelings pf those poor bears who had been yelled at by the mean people who had seemed so angry at them and she is somewhat ashamed of how selfish she had been, having never once considered their bear feelings. Hopefully the nice bears would forgive her and let her pet their fluffy fur.
“Good idea Katchan, you’re super smart.” If she had been taller she would have pat the older boy on the head as a reward, but she was just a little bit too short. Instead she wrapped her arms around his midsection and gave him a short little friendship squeeze, and then went to busy herself with the super important business of trying stuffed bears who had trapped them here, because they were cute bears.
Who didn’t love a bear?

[googlefont="VT323"] Computers are magnificent tools for the realization of our dreams, but no machine can replace the human spark of spirit, compassion, love, and understanding. Katsu was the Kristen Stewart of the factory, at least his creator was sure of that. Other than the fact he actually smiled from time to time. He became the, uh, Kristen Stewart with a smile around those he preferred, especially those like Tomoe, as he had known her for a long long time. It honestly felt nice to know someone in the factory, but also it was a terrible burden with how things were going. If they didn't get out soon, someone would kill, and of course, due to the obvious connection between the two of them, they would be targets as power couples were threats in survival games, like those one reality shows where some people were shoved onto an island to fend for themselves. He didn't remember the game, but he had watched about twenty seasons over time as he had one episode always running on one of his nine televisions of reality shows, so he knew how people were doing in reality. Some people were really cutthroat in reality. That's why he knew he couldn't trust people when he walked in reality.
“Good idea Katchan, you’re super smart.”
Yes. Yes he was. He felt such pride when Tomoe called him smart. He already knew he was good with things like computers, but this was something where he considered the feelings of others and she said he had a good idea. It meant he was getting better socially. And the better he was socially, the better he would get along with everyone and convince them not to kill anyone. After all, he didn't dislike anyone so far, even Taro who had caught him on fire, except… Yoko, who he was judging harshly due to her complete lack of care until her sister died, though he did feel sympathy for her. After all, he would be broken if people he liked died here too.
"Alright," Katsu said as he looked down as she hugged him with a warm smile. Tomoe hugs were his favorite, though he rarely returned them just because it was one of those things he forgot was a thing he was supposed to do. He felt bad sometimes not returning a hug, because he knew Tomoe was a bit… well, messed up sounds bad, and it isn't accurate, but the correct word was escaping him. When he got out he would research the word, and he stored this incident in the back of his head.
"We need… a slogan. Something that will stick in those who see the signs' head. What do you think?" Katsu sat nearby where the supplies were, on the floor, with a paper and a couple markers in front of him, staring at the blank page.

Aww. By now she should probably be used to Katsu not returning any hugs, it had been like that for as long as she could remember that the two of them had known each other and yet still she had to admit that she was a bit disappointed in it. Who didn’t like a nice hug every now and then right? She gave them out with enough frequency to people when she was there trying to cheer people up and so few of them ever actually returned the hug because usually they were caught off guard by her actions and couldn’t get their wits together quick enough. Or something, she was sure that was it.
Hhmph. She’d make sure to give herself and Ishiharu a nice hug later, a better hug than anyone else here would be able to give. Not that she had any way of proving that since she had never experienced their hugs for herself, but shut up this was her coping strategy, don’t be a jerk about it and poke holes in her plan.
"We need… a slogan. Something that will stick in those who see the signs' head. What do you think?"
Hmm, a slogan huh. Katsu did have a good point here, every good poster had two things that really made it stand out. A cute picture naturally and a nice little one liner slogan that stuck in your mind and made sure you remembered it. Think of it, would people buy all those stock motivational hang in their posters of it didn’t have that adorable cat hanging from a tree branch? Of course not, the cat bundled it all together. But first things first, Tomoe set to work on her poster first, quickly sketching out two cute bears that looked pretty close to the two bears who they had been talking to on the tv not that long ago and in giant letters above their cute little fluffy heads she had written “Your mean language makes me feel so des-bear-ful” and right below the bear sketch is simply the words “#Benicetocutebears” and she puffed her little chest out with pride.
“Well? What do you think Kachan?”
Oh Tomoe, why do you have to be so punny?”

[googlefont="VT323"] Computers are magnificent tools for the realization of our dreams, but no machine can replace the human spark of spirit, compassion, love, and understanding. As Katsu drew his own poster, his hand shaking slightly, and once losing grip of his drawing utensil, before sighing and slowly picking it back up. He glanced over at Tomoe's poster which looked so much better than his. He felt very inadequate, though there was more of a reason than he just sucked at drawing as to why his was worse and looked all shaky. Luckily, he was still at the point if he tried hard enough he could will his hand to stop shaking if he concentrated almost all of his energy on stilling his hand. It was hard to look natural moving when he was late on his medicine, but even on it… his condition made it hard to move and look natural just in general. It took a lot of will and a lot of brainpower to just keep going, to the point of exhaustion. When Tomoe finished her drawing, he couldn't help but feel a lurch out of that self-pity and into something closer to just happiness. Cute plus smart plus a good artist? Wasn't she just perfect? He was like a schoolboy with a crush on a cute little schoolgirl. And actually, it wasn't like that, that's how it was. He'd cared for her for a long time, and though for a shorter time he had realized his feelings for her had grown past the point of just friendship. If he was honest, he loved her, and he was just worried about telling her his feelings too soon, because he didn't want to disrupt her life. She was still so young, especially compared to him, he just wanted her to grow up without just having a boyfriend all the time (or that was what he hoped would happen when he confessed his feelings) so she could have a sense of independence and experience life as a single young girl. "That… looks great." Katsu looked back down at his own, feeling that pang of failure when compared to Tomoe's poster. "I… tried." Katsu held up his poster for Tomoe to see and looked away with embarrassment. It looked so bad, he was sure, and no one would like it. But at least he tried and Tomoe here, her posters would definitely get their message across to the others. She was so talented and overall just amazing.

His poster was...different, that much went without saying. As the hacker presented his work of art to the younger girl, Tomoe studied it, her head cocked to the side like she was a little bird studying the best way to attack a pile of seeds and she sits there in silence at the pink piece of paper, trying to find the right words to describe what’s going through her mind. Maybe there were no words, nobody would ever accuse Tomoe of being a rocket scientist or anything like that but suddenly she reaches out without warning and puts a hand on Katsu’s shoulder.
“Tomoe likes it. Tomoe likes it a lot!” It was very Picasso like, but it had its charm and the young vet shoots her little artist friend here a thumbs up to celebrate his achievement in poster making. If the hacking thing didn’t work out, he might have a new career. Tomoe studies the two posters side by side for a moment, casually tossing a gummy snack into the air and catching it on her tongue with practiced ease before digging out a red one that Katsu likes so much and without even a single word of warning or a sign that she was about to do it, flicked the snack towards the face of the hacker, trying to throw it into his mouth for him
“Hey Kachan, open up.”
And yes, she says that after the food is thrown. She got the order a little mixed up, it happens okay don’t judge her.

[googlefont="VT323"] Computers are magnificent tools for the realization of our dreams, but no machine can replace the human spark of spirit, compassion, love, and understanding. He thought he had the worst poster ever, but when she placed her hand on his shoulder, he quickly looked at her hand, staring at the touch that he cherished so much. And then she said she liked it? That was the only thing he wanted to really hear, that she liked it, and it warmed his heart so very much. Yet that touch was still tingling on his shoulder, and his eyes were still staring at that spot even after she had removed it. It wasn't special or anything, Tomoe was a touchy girl, she liked to touch people, hug them, boop them, things like that. However, Katsu couldn't seem to get past that touch, a touch that sent electricity throughout his body, a touch he never wanted to lose.
It was little things like that from which he deduced that he was in love with Tomoe. His excuse of not telling her yet might break down due to the stresses of this game, but for now it was still strong in his head. He had to get out of here first at the very least. Telling her would be his prize for getting her to escape. His eyes glanced up to Tomoe as she through the gummy at his mouth and he flinched slightly, his hands typing the word 'catch' on an imaginary keyboard at the precise moment he needed to open his mouth to catch it. However, his skills typing were just a bit faster than his actual reflexes, probably due to disuse, no practice.
And thus, the gummy hit his face and he stared for a moment at the gummy on the ground. Five second rule. However, his mind was still spinning from that touch.
4.
He looked up at Tomoe and got lost in her eyes. They were beautiful eyes. He probably was weird for staring when there was a perfectly good gummy on the ground waiting to be picked up.
3.
He could still feel that touch humming on his shoulder, as he tried to will his hands forward to pick up the gummy.
2.
His hands moved. However, due to the fact he was distracted by her eyes and smile and that touch still tingling on his shoulder, he had to quickly lower his head to see the gummy to aim his hands correctly.
1.
It was in his hands finally, and he quickly popped it in his mouth, closing his eyes to savor the beautiful flavor. It was even better than normal because Tomoe had given it to him. Katsu reached and picked up a green gummy from the gummy package and handed it to Tomoe, his arm extended towards her, surprisingly still.
"Thank… you." Katsu said after she would presumably take the gummy. He quickly leaned in, pressing a kiss to her cheek and then returning to his posters to make at least another one. Because they needed as many posters as possible. And he wanted to make Tomoe smile again. He wanted to make posters Tomoe would like.

"Thank… you."
Something was weird about all of this, she was starting to realize. Maybe that should have been obvious that the older boy had things on his mind after he had let the gummy bounce off of his face like that, but that wasn’t what caught her attention that really set off warning bells in her head that caused her to look at her older friend, the boy who she had known since they were small children. That came when he leaned over and kissed her on the cheek before going back to his poster.
This was a new experience for her. How was one supposed to react to something like this? As the young girl silently tried to recall from some vague memory she had stored away for later use from some stupid book she had read (because yes despite what you might think, Tomoe did in fact know how to read) and busied herself with coloring in the bears she was using to decorate the poster she was working on and glanced at the hacker out of the corner of her eye, not sure what to say exactly but she can’t help but shake the feeling that she should say something, you know?
So she did.
“Are you okay, Kachan?”
Kind of a vague question, she knew. But Everyone seemed so stressed around here for some reason and it was hard to talk to people sometimes when all they wanted to do was walk around and mope. It was kind of a downer, you know?

[googlefont="VT323"] Computers are magnificent tools for the realization of our dreams, but no machine can replace the human spark of spirit, compassion, love, and understanding. Katsu looked over to Tomoe when she asked if he was alright. Shit. He just kissed her cheek, didn't he? Well that was stupid of him, she thought something was wrong with him. Maybe there was something wrong with him. Was being in love wrong? No, it wasn't that, but doing that in this situation, well, that spelled out that something was wrong with him. Plus he seemed to be so callous at times, but that wasn't something wrong with him right? Perhaps there was something he didn't know about, acting so weird causing him to do weird things that felt right.
"Oh, uh… no, I'm far from unwell. I'm… really really happy right now," Katsu replied with a smile and then looking down to his shaking hands. No he couldn't tell her his feelings right now. It wasn't the right time. She didn't know anything about how he felt, but he knew he couldn't tell her, or it would be weird. He didn't want to make things weird or complicated in a situation like this. "Now let's get these poster hung up, alright?" Katsu looked over to Tomoe with a grin standing up and offering his hand to her to get up and run off hanging up their posters to spread the word of their cause.

"Now let's get these poster hung up, alright?"
Maybe it was all her imagination, seeing how bothered by something he was. He seemed to have something on his mind just a moment before but now he was smiling and happy, so maybe he was over it. She would like very much to believe this was the case you know. She didn't like to see Katsu bothered by anything and she returned his smile of one of her own.
"Okay Kachan!"
Taking his hand without a second thought, Tomoe dashed off as quickly as her little legs would carry her, stopping every so often to wait for Katsu behind her to catch up, because Katsu wasn't exactly what one would call athletic. But that was okay , you know. They had always been like that for as long as the two had been friends. They really were like a yin and yang, two people who didn’t seem like they’d fit together with their personalities so different and yet for some reason neither of them were able to explain, they were able to mesh and be friends. It was one of the few things Tomoe had in her life that made her feel happy about things on a regular basis
And for one day at least, things didn't sound so bad.
